Why I Love You

Kanye & Jay-Z. Two of the best rappers of our time. Crazy shits gonna happen. I bought this gold plated piece of art this summer, and fell in LOVE with it. From now infamous “Niggas in Paris” to some of the less apreciated tracks like “Gotta Have It” Here Jay-Z & Kanye West (feat. Mr. Hudson) with “Why I Love You”

Year of the Tiger

Bought St. Vincent’s album the day it came out. Incredible music. One of my new favorites after Actor, I was glad to see her 3rd album kept her form. It would have been easy to put Cruel on here, but this one is one of my favs, so here is St. Vincent with “Year of the Tiger”

How Come You Never Go There

Feist had a new album come out this year, and since it didn’t have “1234” on it, the world didn’t seem to give a shit. But I bought it, and even though there may not be a standout single, the album itself (Metals) is put together very well, and incredibly easy to listen to. It’s probably one of the best WHOLE albums of 2011. Here’s Feist with “How Come You Never Go There”

Music Monday

Well how was music Monday round two?  Any complaints? questions? concerns? either leave a comment or send me an email at noahstrayve@gmail.com! next week I will be back with a Hip-Hop/Rap Music Monday. and since I have so many songs I want to squeeze into this one, I may do a morning, afternoon, and night split. Well until then have fun kids.

Bounce (feat. N.O.R.E. & Isis)

I first heard of MSTRKRFT (pronounced Master Craft) when they were announced to Lollapaooza 2009. I didn’t find out until later that it is actually a side project of one of the members of DFA 1979. But pretty much MSTRKRFT is the beat-maker and they get a bunch of guests to sing/rap over them. Not to different than Major Lazer except replace Island music with Underground New York sound. Here’s MSTRKRFT with “Bounce”

Robot Rock

In my opinion Daft Punk is and will be the greatest electronic artists of all time. Sure they don’t have as much buzz anymore but the pretty much made it mainstream. Electronic music would not be the same today if it wasn’t for them. They are the equivalent of The Clash/Velvet Underground/The Ramones/Sex Pistols to punk music (Note: I mentioned all with a claim to creating punk as not to upset anyone). Here is Daft Punk with “Robot Rock”

Sofi Needs a Ladder

Deadmau5 is one of those artists who has a lot of attention right now, and when I decided to give him a fair turn I was at Target and his new album 4x4=12 had just gone on sale for $7. So i bought it and just dived right in. Everything about him is catchy, it’s not just this song, it’s all of them. In my opinion he is one of the buzz artists who is worthy of all the attention he’s been getting. Here’s Deadmau5 with “Sofi Needs a Ladder”

Crimewave

I got this song unfortunately AFTER their appearance at Lolla 2009 in the Lolla Sampler. I fell for this song instantly. Crystal Castles actually helped get me more into electronic music and really lead to the creation of a  whole genre in my itunes. Probably one of the best electronic acts to come out of this decade, some of the sounds sound almost like you’re in a video game. Also since it’s not really Crystal Castles I’m not gonna plug it that way, but The Hood Internet mashed Crystal Castles “Baptism” with Rhianna’s “Rude Boy” and I’ll post that link here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71GQs1brPD8 but here is the reason I created this post, here is Crystal Castles with “Crimewave”.

Pon De Floor

Well here we come to our second half of this fine Music Monday. The opening half was mostly indie elctro/indie pop. Here’s where I plan to get into some more hardcore electronic. I first heard of Major Lazer because of looking up Diplo, and I thought hey if Diplo made it why not check it out. I actually like Lazer a lot more the Diplo. I absolutely love the Islnd feel you get in these songs, it sets it apart from anything else being done in electronic right now. Another recommendation would be “Hold The Line”. Also the live show is something else, a few highlights would be Chinese Dragons, Ballerinas, Jamaican booty shakers, acrobats, and the hype man yelling “Bitches best get pregnant to dis song”. Here’s Major Lazer with “Pon de Floor”

Dystopia (The Earth is On Fire)

I was introduced to YACHT by one of my friends, we were just sitting in the car one day and he put on the song “Ring The Bell” by them, and it just stuck in my head and wouldn’t leave. I had to download it just so I could get the thing out of my system. This year YACHT released a new album, Shangri-La, and while it’s more of the same, I don’t care because it’s great. This will conclude my morning half of this weeks Music Monday, I have school. But check back this evening to see another 6 songs I have. Well here’s YACHT with “Dystopia (The Earth is On Fire)”
